Teepee diys have been roaming around the internet for quite a long time now and after seeing how cute they look, I’ve always told myself that when I have a kid in the future, I’ll definitely make one for him/ her. But, I really couldn’t resist my itchy fingers and decided that I had to make one now! And so, I decided that I would make one for Joy!
It’s Joy’s third birthday today!
For her birthday, I decided to get her her favorite can food from Fancy Feast (this is not a Fancy Feast ad!) She really really loves Fancy Feast and would purr so loudly every time she’s eating it or sees me opening the can. I also decided to make her 2 toys – a stuffed toy mouse and a catnip fish. She’s such a lucky cat :P
The next time you decide to light a candle on food for your pet, remember that your pet might not care too much that there is fire. That’s exactly what happened to Joy as she tried to sniff her food, only to realized that tips of her whiskers were starting to light on fire! Hilarious but so dangerous, tsk.
If Joy actually knew that today’s her birthday, and that she is supposed to be treated like a special queen, I wouldn’t be surprised if she thought that birthdays are the worst. As I was making her catnip toy, all should could do was look, smell and wait. She waited so patiently for me to fill the fish with catnip she must have almost gone crazy. Then, as soon as I was done with her catnip toy, without letting her take a whiff of it, these humans opened her absolute favorite thing to eat, and had to put a candle, prevent her from eating it, just to take a picture for their own satisfaction. Well Joy, you have to work for food in the real world, yknow!
As soon as we took the candle off, she dived into her food. She was so pleased that she started eating with her eyes closed and purring ever so loudly. There’s my contented cat!
Pardon me, but I can’t resist not putting this picture up:
After Joy ate, she leaped off into the garden and there she was. Happy, full, alert, and a year older.
Saying that my office is cold is an understatement. In fact, it can sometimes be so cold I feel a little sick. It’s funny because we have colleagues from all around the world working in our office and almost everywhere else other than Singapore has some sort of winter. Yet, our fellow colleagues from weather way harsher than ours say that they came to Singapore to escape the winter but have to brace the “winter” in the office.
After much anticipation and hype, the new iOS 7 is finally here! I downloaded it last night and till now, I’ve been getting the “new phone” excitement. Speaking of Apple products, my sister recently got an iPad mini. At night, before she sleeps, she watches movies on the bed. Unfortunately, it seems that the iPad mini cover is really stable on tables and hard surfaces but on the bed, it just keeps falling down. She ends up having to pile pillows to create some kind of a fortress to keep the iPad standing at the right angle.

I always had the secret desire to get a dslr. It never really made sense for me to invest in one since I don’t take photos too often but since I started this blog, I found every reason to get one. Coincidentally, my brother decided that he wanted to upgrade and I decided to buy his dslr over from him! I enjoy taking photos of things I love, but am not super interested in photography per se. I gain a lot of satisfaction in taking high resolution and clear photos, but definitely do not find much pleasure when I try to delve too much into the technology in itself.
I am a very lucky girl to be blessed with such a beautiful home and a great place to practice my photography. I enjoy taking photos of my mom’s garden as there are always flowers in full bloom.
Not to mention, I love taking photos of the animals. I sometimes think that they are so lucky because they never really have a bad look or a bad expression. I many a time marvel at the fact that they look so perfect but I’m sure that if they could talk, they would complain about how “unglam” they look in most of the photos, just like us unsatisfied humans!
Jon and I have been really looking forward to visiting the TAOs at their home in Marrowstone Island. They came to Seattle to meet us for dinner before the proposal but nothing beats spending time with them at their house. From Seattle, the most convenient way to get to Marrowstone Island is by taking the Washington State Ferry, which is a real experience for first-timers since unlike normal ferries, this ferry takes vehicles – we drive onto the ferry and you can decide to stay in your car or go up to enjoy the view. On a side note, Jon and I are always full of “oohs and aahs” whenever we watch Grey’s Anatomy. Although it wasn’t filmed in Seattle, it is based in Seattle and they have quite few transition scenes that shows the Washington State Ferry, which never fails to remind us of our happy memories at Marrowstone Island.
When Jon and I were living in Seattle, we were very blessed (and still are) to have met a couple – Vigo & Paula – known to us more affectionately as UV & AP (i.e. Uncle Vigo & Aunty Paula) or TAOs (The Ancient Ones). Aunty Paula came up with “The Ancient Ones”, not us!
I’ve always talked about wanting to organize a picnic and I finally got down to it! We wanted to go someplace quiet and decided to go to a large grassy area behind my sister’s school. My sister and I prayed harddd the whole day hoping it won’t rain and the weather turned out perfect! Actually, we were so excited that we just spent the whole day talking about what we were going to do at the picnic, lol.
I realized that I didn’t take any pictures of our picnic set-up – how could I! I think we were more excited at eating the food and playing with the animals – yes, we brought Fudge, Toffee and Joy!
Super awesome shepherd’s pie made by Annabel (aka Bel). The picture below absolutely does no justice to the awesomeness of this dish. The 6 of us ended up finishing three-quarters of this humongous serving of shepherd’s pie! Bel also made chicken wings (see the next picture).
Have you ever got this feeling when suddenly… an idea hits you and you just want to get right down to it immediately? This feeling definitely happened for this diy but in general, i’m just quite an impatient person and just like to get things done :P (Many a times, at the expense of my beauty sleep, and making things look neater and nicer)
